The acts of throwing back and deep thinking come from the same etymological origin in Latin (reflectere). The word simultaneously encompasses meanings such as functioning as a mirror, sending back and producing an idea as a result of deep thinking processes. As the artist goes through these thinking processes to make sense of the surrounding reality and to respond to it, through his creations he holds a mirror to the world he lives in. The very act of making art embodies the thinking/sending back duality and it lies at the basis of those processes and actions that generate tension zones while complementing each other. The work of art builds a confrontation platform where its creator’s inner journeys and feedbacks on the external world intertwine. The works selected for the “Reflections” exhibition underline these two tense but inseparable dynamics of the artistic creation process.
