KESİŞEN DOĞAÇLAMALAR, 2023, katılımcı performans, 60'
(Kesişen Diyaloglar projesi davetiyle, Workshop as art practice kapsamında)
INTERSECTIONG IMPROVISATIONS, 2023, participatory performance, 60'
(with the invitation of the Intersecting Dialogues project As part of Workshop as art practice program)
In this game played with 1 facilitator and 3 participants, each participant randomly draws 4 cards from the deck on the table. The facilitator who draws 5 cards puts her first card on the table and begins to tell an impromptu story. As she continues to narrate, she puts on the table one card after another and a line composed of 5 cards emerges at the end of the story. The first participant arranges their cards in a way that intersects this line and builds their own story. The second participant's story can intersect the previous two lines and the third participant's story can intersect all three lines. The participants' unconscious expressed through free association and blended into each other now belongs to themselves and to all of them at once.

İpek’s Radio presents a selection of sketches, radio programs and interviews the artist recorded on mixed music tapes while she was 8-13 years old (1989-1994) using the portable cassette player she received as a birthday present. The work in which autobiographical and social elements intertwine becomes a subjective history reading, illustrating how the cultural codes and narrative forms of a certain period are reflected in a child’s play ground.

YAKIN TARİH 101 / RECENT HISTORY 101, 2018
Video kolaj / Video collage, 6’ 37’’
Döneme ait tüplü televizyon, medya oynatıcı / Old-school tv, media player
Yakın Tarih 101, İpek Yeğinsü’nün yaşamının ilk on yılına dair (1981-1991) belleğinde iz bırakan buluntu görüntülerin birbiri ardına hızla aktığı bir imgeler kolajıdır.
Recent History 101 is a collage of images where found footage from the first decade of İpek Yeğinsü’s life (1981-1991) with a strong impact on her memory appear one after another in a fast-paced flow. Political events, disasters and wars ironically scattered between the cartoon shows, advertorial tunes and video clips considered the period’s symbols by those born in the 80s, leave the viewer in the midst of a schizophrenic bombardment of associations. This tense and vague area where the macro and the micro, the individual and the social intertwine, asks the viewer to embark on a journey of discovery into his own image vocabulary.

DÖNENCE / MOBILE, 2017
Bebek yatağı, ekran, video loop, Monopoly oyun kitinden parçalar
Baby bed, screen, video loop, pieces from Monopoly game kit
As soon as they are born, babies are showered with a variety of pretty, little things. The first one in line is usually the baby mobile, with the cutest of toys continuously spinning in the air with a monotonous tune and putting them to sleep with an almost hypnotic effect. As they grow up a bit, the mobiles are replaced by other toys. Now the main purpose in most games is not to be entertained but to defeat, to win, to become “the most”. And shortly after this introduction to competition, board games enter their lives; it is estimated that Monopoly, with its roots going back to 1929 or the year of the Great Depression, and where the aim is to build a real estate monopoly bringing the opponents to bankruptcy, has been
played at least by 750 million people.
Today we live in a world built by adults who used to play such games in their childhood. Starting from the earliest ages, the system we are born into programmes us to always wanting more and more; it even claims we will lose the game altogether if we lack that sort of an ambition. It introduces us to concepts like money, credit, bond and stock while we are still struggling to learn the four math operations. It normalizes the joy brought by our mother, grandfather or brother’s bankruptcy. Then why are we so surprised to see those innocent babies in their cradles turning into Donald Trumps? As adults accepting the roles the system assigns to us, can we claim that we have awaken from that deep sleep the mobile had made us fall into as we were babies?
